In Teams, there is never a need for roll call

When you are in a meeting, there are certain tasks you can perform in Teams. The next few tips will be dedicated to meeting tasks.

The meeting control bar presented on your screen during a meeting presents multiple options to help navigate and manage meetings. By now, you more than likely know how to toggle on your camera and microphones. This tip will focus on the other options available to you.

What is a meeting control bar?

The meeting control bar allows you to control various aspects of the meeting like accessing the meeting chat or managing participants.

Viewing participants and meeting invitees

As a participant, moderator, or facilitator you may need to use this feature to:

  • Know who else is in the meeting without interrupting.
  • Eliminate the time waste of a roll call.
  • Help catch up faster when arriving late.

How to I access the list of participants and invitees?

From the meeting control bar, select “Show Participants”:

This action will open a People fly-out menu on the right side of the screen.

From this view, you can immediately see the participants and the invitees that have not joined.

What if I need to add another participant to join immediately?

Don’t worry, you have two options available to you.

Option 1: Use the “Invite someone” search box.

Use this feature for internal users only. Start by searching the name. Teams uses a smart search feature that will save you time.

Option 2: Click the “Get Link” icon.

Use an email, chat, or meeting request to paste (Ctrl+V) the link in the message and send the link to the participant.
