You can share Team files with people outside of your team
There are several reasons why you might need to share a file in Teams with others.
Your co-workers are using this method to:
- Coordinate with stakeholders
- Open up a survey form to the Public
- Share with other Teams
- Work with external partners

Download File From Teams Channel Posts to Local Computer
- Locate the file within the post discussion.
- Click on the …
- Select Download
- File save will be saved to your local computerrsquo;s “Download” folder.
Sharing Files in a Teams Channel
To send a file in a one-on-one chat, select Choose file
beneath the compose box, select the file you want to share, and then send.
Sharing Team Files with co-workers outside the team
Every Team Channel has a Post, Files, and Wiki tab
The Posts tab is the defaulted view.
To add files from your computer to a channel:
- Select Teams Menu option on the left
- Click on desired channel to highlight
- Select the Files Tab
- Locate and hover over the file you would like to share.
- Click on the …
- Select the “Open in Sharepoint” option
- Locate the file and click on the ⋮
- Select the “Manage Access” option
- Select “Share”
- Select “Specific People”
- Locate people by beginning to type their name
- When you have selected all the people you would like to share the file with, click Send.
Itrsquo;s done! They now have access to the file outside of Teams.
