Language Access Staff Training
The Town’s Language Access Plan allows community members with limited English proficiency (LEP) to use services to help communicate with Town Staff or engage in Town opportunities. This plan aligns with Council’s goals of creating a vibrant and inclusive community that ensures meaningful access and participation.
What Will This Training Cover?
- Define Language Access/Justice and the Town’s Language Access Plan (LAP)
- Understand importance of LAP to our community
- Learn about the language access resources and tools available to Town staff
Also on the HIVE is our Language Assistance portal. This portal provides key resources to help staff meet residents’ language needs and live further into the commitments outlined in our Council approved Language Access Plan.
On the portal you can:
- Request Forms for interpretation and translation services and interpretation equipment
- Language Line Instructions — All Town staff now have access to a language line that provides immediate access to interpreters of any language needed 24/7
- Language Identification Guide for identification of languages — hard copies available upon request
- Language Access Infographic Guide
- Notices of Language Services
- Multilingual Demographic Cards
- And more to come!
