TOCH Workplace Safety Committee

The Safety Committee is a group of Town employees, specifically appointed by department heads, to work with the Office of Risk Management, their departments and the Town as a whole regarding workplace safety programs and initiatives. Committee members will commit to the development and promotion of a safe work culture and the wellbeing of all people while they work. The Committee will address the safety of both employees and the public and will act to motivate, encourage and recognize individual and collective efforts to create a strong safety culture. The Committee will make recommendations directly to the Town Manager for consideration.

Our goals are as follows:

  • Improve Town of Chapel Hill safety performance and effectiveness.
  • Meet and exceed mandated safety programs.
  • Encourage a safety team approach to problem solving.
  • Promote a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Maximize use of internal resources and expertise in programming and problem solving.
