A ransomware attack is an attack that will encrypt all of the files on your computer and an organizations file servers rendering data unusable. Ransomware attacks begin with a user clicking on a malicious link or opening a malicious attachment delivered via email. The cybercriminals will then demand payment in order to decrypt the files so that the data can be restored. Ransomware attacks can cripple an organization of any size including organizations as large as county governments.
